Akajemeli seeks re-establishment of MDAs’ ministerial SERVICOM unit

The National Coordinator of SERVICOM, Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli, has called for the re-establishment of the ministerial SERVICOM units that are moribund in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

This call was made when Mrs Akajemeli paid a working visit to the National Population Commission (NPC) headquarters in Abuja over the weekend.

While presenting a keynote address, the SERVICOM national coordinator called on the Commission to re-establish the ministerial SEVICOM unit to align with the purpose for which the service delivery initiative was adopted for all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government to drive the process for change within the organisation.

A press statement by the Public Awareness Manager (SERVICOM), Mrs. Henrietta Okokon Sunday, said Mrs Akajemeli noted that when the Commission has a functional ministerial SERVICOM units it will eliminate bottlenecks in access to the chairman and empower staff to function optimally as foot soldiers and eyes of management in all aspects of customer service.

She further implored the management to provide the unit with needed resources for the implementation of its service delivery activities.

She advised the Commission to formulate and produce a service charter in line with SERVICOM and the principles of good customer care that is well published, accessible, transparent and simple to use for dealing with complaints.

This she said would assist the Commission in the implementation, monitoring and reporting of standards as contained in the service charter.

She advised the management to inaugurate a functional SERVICOM unit that would have closer engagements with SERVICOM Presidency to help shape the Commission.

“Engaging with you will see immediate service delivery processes in the Commission”, she added.

In his welcome address, the chairman National Population Commission Hon Nasir Isa Kwarra, said the visit of SERVICOM was quite timely as the Commission had enormous tasks assigned to it to conduct census in Nigeria in the near future.

He informed the National Coordinator that President Muhammadu Buhari has given the Commission an enabling environment to kick start demographic layout for the census and assured Nigerians of the Commission’s commitment to giving citizens services that would be widely acceptable through the digitisation of the processes.
