Akeredolu reads riot act to petroleum marketers

Less than 24 hours after the newly inaugurated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced the removal of fuel subsidy in the country, petrol stations across many states, including Ondo state Monday began hoarding of the product and created artificial scarcity.

Many of the fuel stations earlier selling the product to customers before the announcement horridly shut down their stations, telling customers that they have exhausted their stock.

The Ondo state governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has warned petroleum marketers and owners of fuel stations in the state against hoarding the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).

He gave the warning after long queues resurfaced at filling stations across the state.

The governor in a statement released by his chief press secretary, Richard Olatunde, as said all petrol stations in the state should dispense fuel in their tanks to ease the people of the long hours spent at fuel stations.

Consequently, he directed the Governor’s Task Force to move around the state and deal decisively with any fuel station found hoarding the product.

At many of the filling stations visited at the state capital, it was sold at prices ranging from N350 -N700.
