Akure monarch holds festival, locks markets, shops, others



 Deji of Akure, the paramount ruler of Akure kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi Ogunlade and the people Wednesday began the celebration if this year’s festival known as “Aheregbe.” 

Media Aide to the monarch, Michael Adeyeye said in a release that the festival usually referred to as “Dududu” and omojao festival would be observed in the month of August, 2019.

 He stated that the Aheregbe festival will hold on Wednesday, 14 August while the Omojao festival will hold on Thursday 29.  

 In line with tradition, he said all markets, shops and stalls in Akure, the capital of Ondo state will be closed on 14th and 29th August, 2019 for the observance of the festival.

 He however stated that the festival will not in any way restrict human and vehicular movement.

 Consequently, the palace solicited for the cooperation and support of all owners of shops and stalls in Akure as they are enjoined to comply with the directives by locking their shops, market places and stalls during these periods.
