Akwa Ibom disburses COVID-19 funds to 1,950 beneficiaries  

The Akwa Ibom state government has commenced the disbursements of the N20, 000 bi-monthly COVIDF-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus to 1,950 beneficiaries.

At the flag-off ceremony and disbursement to beneficiaries of social transfer  Tuesday in Uyo, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Dr. Ini. Adiakpan, commended the federal government and the World Bank for their efforts in mitigating the negative impact of COVID-19 through people-oriented programmes.

She commended the governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, for his commitment and interest shown towards Akwa Ibom COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus  Programmes (AK-CARES) including his subsequent approval for the disbursement to beneficiaries.

“The AK-CARES programmes which were officially launched in the state on 29th August, 2022 has been ongoing across various platforms such as social transfer, FADAMA, AKROIMA, CSDA, and SMEs.

“We are gathered here to witness the official flag-off ceremony and disbursement to 1,950 beneficiaries of social transfer under Result Area 1, who will be on this programme for at least one cycle, which is 12 months.

“I use this opportunity to commend the federal government and the World Bank for coming up with this people-oriented programme that seeks to address the negative impact of COVID-19 impact on the citizens,” she added.
