Akwa Ibom vows to shut down hotels linked with criminal activities

The Akwa Ibom state government Thursday said it will shut down hotels and other entertainment centers linked with cult and criminal activities.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong in Uyo.

The statement said the decision came at the backdrop of hotel owners relinquishing their premises to cult groups and other criminal gangs to use as base of operations.

It further stated that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and security agencies have been mandated to enforce the order.

The statement reads I part: “The decision is informed by credible intelligence that hotel owners and proprietors of entertainment centers have given their premises to cult groups and other criminal gangs to use as their base.

“The Ministry of Culture and Tourism and security agencies have set up a monitoring team to enforce this order.

“The public, especially proprietors of hotels and places of entertainment should take note and act accordingly.”
