Al-Makura builds roads in Lafia varsity

Nasarawa state Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has awarded contracts for the construction of roads at the permanent site campus of the Federal University, Lafia (FULafia).
This was made known by the Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Prof.
Muhammad Sanusi Liman recently after he held a meeting with the construction firm awarded the project.
Al-Makura also awarded a contract for the construction of the road linking FULafia Teaching Hospital in Lafia built by the state government.
Speaking, Liman said that the latest gestures of the governor also included the donation of additional 100 hectares of land within the vicinity of Federal University, Lafia Teaching Hospital (FUTH) Lafia.
This intervention by the state government followed several others enjoyed by the university since its inception in 2012.
It would be recalled that AlMakura had sanctioned the donations of the Nasarawa State Secretariat building to serve as the take-off site for the university and also donated 206 hectares of land for the construction of the university’s permanent site, a guest house, vicechancellor and registrar’s lodges, an electric transformer and a female hostel.
The vice-chancellor, while thanking the governor, urged other states to contribute their quota to development of education, especially at the tertiary level.
Prof. Liman praised the staff and students of the University for maintaining peace, saying that development has greatly improved teaching and learning.
Liman said: “In our university we diligently implement our academic calendar, without any interruptions from any quarters and this is so because we all realised the need to do what we are employed to doteaching and learning.”
