Al-Makura commissions rice incubator

Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa state yesterday commissioned rice pilot incubator plant and laid foundation for the construction of a general hospital in Lafia.

Speaking at both ceremonies all in Lafia, the state capital, Al-Makura said his administration has designed projects that would benefit the ordinary citizen in the state.

He said his mandate as a governor was to ensure that all sections of the society felt the impact of the government through improved provision of social amenities.

At the site for the construction of the new hospital along Shinge Road, Lafia, the governor said the new general hospital would help decongest the specialist hospital Lafia.

He said: “There is no gainsaying that the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH), which is the only public hospital rendering both secondary and tertiary healthcare services within Lafia metropolis, had become overstretched.
“It is pertinent to state that government has since embarked on the rehabilitation and upgrading of the general hospitals in Awe, Toto and Akwanga which are nearing completion.”

While at the venue of the Rice Post-Harvest Processing and Marketing Pilot Project(RIPMPP) Incubation Plant along Shendam Road, Lafia,  Al-Makura said government had earmarked N80 million to sustain the project.
