Al-Makura presents N122.8bn budget for 2018

Nasarawa state Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, has presented a budget estimate of N122, 820, 945, 204 for the 2018 fiscal year to the House of Assembly.
Presenting the 2018 appropriation bill to the Assembly yesterday said it was tagged: “Budget of Sustainable Development.”
Al-Makura said the recurrent expenditure for the 2018 budget is N43, 190, 941, 284, representing 36.79 per cent of the budget, while the capital expenditure is N71, 006, 002, 000, representing 57.81 per cent of the total budget.
According to him, the total budget size is N122, 820, 943, 284 only for the 2018 fiscal year with the increase of N31, 335, 243, 053 or 35.25% as against the 2017 appropriation bill of N91, 485, 700, 231 only.
He added that the sum of N6, 624, 000, 000 had been allocated to Consolidated Revenue Fund Charges for debt servicing, pension and gratuity representing 5.39% of the total budge.
He said the 2018 budget would focus more at “to sustain the pace of development in our dear state which has direct bearing on the lives of the people.”
He, therefore, called on the House of Assembly members to give the budget proposal a speedy passage to enable the state government to execute people-oriented projects for the overall development of the state.
Speaker of the House, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, in his response, gave the assurance that the budget would be passed without delays.
He also assured the governor of the legislators’ readiness to partner with the executive in order to achieve speedy development of the state.
