Al-Makura promotes 9,000 civil servants

Following his promise to boost the morale of civil servants in the state, Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura of Nasarawa state has promoted 9,000 civil servants in the state Civil Service.

The governor disclosed this yesterday in Lafia, during the opening ceremony of Phase 1 training for civil servants in the state with the theme: “Inclusive Governance as key to sustainable development: The Role of Public Service”.

The governor said the move was to place the civil service in the state on the right pedestal for optimum service delivery.

The governor also said that his administration had disbursed N327 million for pension arrears, while appointment of 100 casual workers into the state Civil Service as well as the absorption of staff of Nigerian Newsday into the civil service, have been normalised.

Speaking earlier, the Head of Civil Service of the state, Thomas Ari Ogiri, thanked the governor for magnanimously approving the training for workers in the state.

He added the training which was in conjunction with Industrial Training Fund (ITF) would aid the evolution of training policy for the state government.
