Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa state has been urged to put in place policies and programmes that will facilitate the growth and development of the small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which will place the state among its equals.
Managing Director of Chrsity Catering Enterprises, Mrs. Christiana Agba made the plea recently at the graduation ceremony of her organization held in Aso Pada, Mararaba Nasarawa state.
She expressed optimism that if the necessary policies, infrastructure and an enabling environment are put in place, not only will the women and youth of the state be better off, but Nigerians will benefit as well.

Mrs. Agba said: “I want to cease this opportunity to call on Karu Local Government authorities and Nasarawa state as a whole to put in place policies and programmes that will aid the growth and development of small and medium enterprises because this sector is the bedrock of the development of any society. This will one way or the other reduce the crime rate as it will take the idle youths off the streets.
“Our young girls who are wasting away their lives by engaging in unwholesome acts like prostitution among others will be kept busy learning a trade or doing one job or the other.”

Earlier in his address, Chairman of the Occasion, Mr. Sam Praise enjoined the youth to be law abiding and engage in activities that would improve their lives.
He charged parents to always monitor the wards or children and ensure they bequeath good moral values on them for a better tomorrow.
Highlight of the occasion was presentation of awards and certificates to 18 graduating students trained in cake, bead making, decoration and general event planning.
