Al-Mustapha bags chieftaincy title in Nasarawa

The traditional leader of Uke Town in Karshi Development Area Council of Nasarawa state, Alhaji Abdullahi Ahmed Hassan, has called on the clergy and traditional leaders to preach and promote peace in their domains.
He gave the admonition at the weekend at his domain in Uke during the conferment of the traditional title of Dan Maliki Uke on Major Hamza Al-Mustapha.
Hassan said: “I would like to use this opportunity to advise the clergy and traditional leaders in the country to use their positions to preach and promote peace in their various domains.
It is regrettable that some religious leaders nowadays use their position to incite youths to violence. We should encourage Nigerian youths to foster peace in order for the country to develop.”
The advice from the traditional ruler is coming on the heels of a recent sermon by a Kunaduna-based Islamic preacher, Malam Sanusi Kalil, who is the Imam of Daura Mosque on Zaria Road in Kaduna.
Kalil had alleged that former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s allegation against Major Al-Mustapha in his acerbic letter to President Jonathan was true and incited the youth to unleash violence.
According to Alhaji Hassan, the title conferred on Al-Mustapha by the Uke Emirate Council was based on the former Chief Security Officer to the late Gen. Sani Abacha’s commitment to youth development and his youth programme in the country.
Responding, Al-Mustapha thanked the Council for the honour done him and pledged his commitment to the inclusion of Uke youths in his youth programme, Al-Mustapha Peace Unity Development Initiative (APUDI).
