Albani’s murder: Students debunk Zakzaky’s indicting security agencies

The students of slain Zaria cleric, Sheikh Auwal Adam Albani, yesterday debunked statement credited to Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky that security agencies were responsible for the killing of Albani.

Addressing newsmen in Zaria, spokesperson of Sheikh Albani’s students, Dr. Abdulganiyu Abdurrafi’u, said: “We as students of the late cleric’s family has not accused any group or authority for the murder.
“We are not fools. We have decided to remain calm and patient based on the teachings of our religion. We know that Malam has many enemies, including some people that claim to be Muslims.

“We didn’t ask anybody or group to speak on our behalf, including Sheikh Zakzaky or his Shiite movement. Had it been we want to be violent, Zaria and the country at large couldn’t have been what they are today.
“But we are people that follow the footsteps of the Prophet, his household and companions. Therefore, we don’t do things ignorantly by taking laws into our hands.
“We have told ourselves to be patient and allow the security agents to do their job since they have told us that they are equal to the task, but not because we are afraid of anybody, including the government.”
