Ali is my Idol – Macijiya

Fati Musa, aka Macijiya hails from Minna, Niger state. She is one of the upcoming Kannywood actresses. In this interview with ALIYU ASKIRA in Minna, Macijiya reveals that for a long time, the Kannywood star, Ali Nuhu has been her role model in the film industry.

Tell us a brief background about you and how you got into Kannywood?
I have a Higher National Diploma in Mass Communications from Federal Polytechnic, Bida. So I am exposed and I know how to take good care of myself. I am also very religious, having gone through several Islamiyya Schools. Coupled with the fact that my mother and father are still alive and they are very strict. On how I joined Kannywood, I did not lobby anybody or compromised my body.

Have you married before?
Honestly no, but very much ready to settle down any time. However, right now, I am into a serious relationship with somebody outside Kannywood but we are yet to start discussing about marriage.

With your education, exposure, beauty and financial stability, will you allow yourself to be kept in Kulle after marriage?
I will discuss extensively with whomever that will marry me on how we would spend our life together because, marriage suppose to be a permanent project, if it is Kulle he wants, so be it. If I am to be in part time businesses, so be it. If I am to take up appointment in Government or join a newspaper to become of the female editors around, which is my desire, we will discuss that and not in this world for luxury alone. I am happy God created me as a Muslim. I will do all I could to make sure that I make it to paradise Insha Allah.

The society perceive Kannywood members, especially female ones as cheap, prostitutes and that hardly make success of their marriages. What is your take on that?
First, in every society, there are bad eggs. It is also obtainable in most professions. What we are doing, as far as Fati Musa is concerned, is a decent Job of educating and entertaining the society on evils that live within us or that happen daily in our society. Don’t forget, Mansura Isa got married to Sani Danja and she is still in his house. Muhibat Abdulsalam got married to Giggs and they are still married, Fati KK is happily married, Mai Jidda Abdulkadir, Zainab Raga, and several others got married after becoming famous in Kannywood yet people are saying we don’t stay in marriage.

Who do you admire most in Kannywood?
Ask me this question thousand times and I will tell you one thousand times that Ali Nuhu, King of Kannywood, a very decent gentleman. He is my role model. I used to watch his film almost on a daily basis, but now I rub shoulders with him as a female star. I am happy that God is kind to me. Forget about those describing us as wayward and cheap, tell me in the whole of Kannywood if you ever heard a slight gossip that Ali Nuhu has a girlfriend. Even though he has all the qualities to attract any lady – tall, dark, handsome, popular -In fact, even in Nollywood, any film he Features sales like hot cake.
I believe you saw him played lead role in very popular and expensive films with the likes of Omotola Jolade, Justice Esiri, Elebele Elebua, Van Vicker, Jakie Appiah. Ali Nuhu is the Amitah Bacchan of Kannywood. One thing with him is if you go to his Kano house, you would see most of the Kannywood members there, yet even in a dream no lady has ever come out to say Ali has shown interest in her.

What will you say are some of your material gains from acting?
You know I joined Kannywood in 2010. Within this period, I was opportune to perform Hajj twice. I have a car of my choice, and other things that if one acquires, he will be proud of them.

Why are you in Minna while some of your colleagues are having their fun in Kaduna?
Well, I hardly travel out of Minna except am going for a film project.
