Aliyu calls for better welfare for aged persons

Niger state Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, has advocated for better welfare for the elderly persons as senior citizens of the country.
The governor made the call yesterday in Minna during a lunch with the elderly citizens of the state at the Children Amusement Park on Bosso Road, Minna.

Aliyu said the true spirit of good neighborliness should be imbibed by the people to cater for people in their old age which, in turn, would make them avail themselves for wise counselling.
He said: “When I was in Abuja as a civil servant I usually come back home here in Minna to consult with my father when I am confronted with some issues, by the time my father gave me his counseling I always come out like a fool because he would have provided me with solutions that I never thought of.”

He said the elderly people in the society had tremendous roles to play in given the younger ones the desire guidance at difficult times, adding that there was the need for every member of the younger generations to ensure that the senior citizens were well catered for.
