All set for Saturday’s LG polls in Oyo – OYSIEC chair

The chairman of the Oyo state Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) , Aare Isiaka Abiola Olagunju, on Friday said “all is now set” for this Saturday’s local government election across the state.

Already, security have been beefed up with the state Police Command deploying 9,000 personnel while the state Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) deploying 2, 850 personnel.

Aare Olagunju while briefing newsmen at the OYSIEC headquarters in Ibadan on the preparations for the election said “there will be no going back in the Commission’s determination towards ensuring that the elections will be free, fair and credible by providing a level-playing ground for all the political parties for the polls.

Aare Olagunju stressed that sensitive and non-sensitive materials for the elections had been moved to all the 33 local government areas of the state to ensure “a timely take-off” of the elections across the state.

The distribution of the sensitive and non-sensitive materials was monitored by leaders of the 17 participating political parties, other stakeholders as well as journalists from within Oyo state and from neighbouring Osun, Ogun and Lagos states.
