Alleged fraud: Again, Maina seeks bail over ‘deteriorating’ health

For the second time, the former Chairman, defunct Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Abdulrasheed Maina, Wednesday prayed the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, for another bail.

Maina who was represented by his lawyer, Anayo Adibe in a motion on notice dated and filed on Dec. 24, 2020 with charge number: FHC/ABJ/CR/258/19 attributed the new move to his deteriorating medical condition.

The embattled ex-pension boss is currently standing trial before Justice Okon Abang of the FHC Abuja over allegations bordering on fraud.

At the resumed trial on Wednesday, Anayo Adibe, told the court that the application became necessary because his client’s health condition has worsened.

But, in a short ruling Justice Abang, held that it was not convenient for the court to hear the matter.

The trial Judge has since adjourned till Feb. 1 for hearing of the application

Blueprint reports that Maina was last year granted bail to the tune of N500 million, but allegedly jumped bail.

Consequently, Senator Ali Ndume, senator representing Borno South, was detained at the Kuje Correctional facility on the order of the judge.

Justice Abang, thereafter revoked Maina’s bail, issued a warrant of arrest against him and has since been remanded in Kuje Correctional facility.
