Alumni pays courtesy visit to new Solicitor-General, hails appointment

The Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma Edo State, Alumni Association, Wednesday, hailed the appointment of Mrs Beatrice Ejodamen Jedy-Agba as the new Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Justice, Abuja.

The Abuja branch of the association gave the thumbs up when they paid an official visit to the Permanent Secretary office in Abuja.

In his opening address during the courtesy visit, the Chairman of the Abuja chapter of the association, Dr. Abraham Isibor, described the Permament Secretary as not only a distinguished alumnus but also a good Ambassador their alma matta and frontliner who has raised the status of the University.

He said, “Some of us have followed your tremendous record in NAPTIP and other public offices and submit that you are truly a blazing Amazon.”

On the current face-off between Governor Obaseki’s administration and the University management, Isibor implored the permanent secretary and other alumnus of the institution and stakeholders to intervene in order to salvage the University from further balkanisation.

In her response, Jedy -Agba, an alumnus of the institution who thanked the team for the honour done her, also commended their initiative, expressing he readiness to work with them in achieving the overall goals of the Alumni Association.

“Keep up the spirit. I think we should strive to develop our alma matta, and look at enhancing values via social corporate responsibility capable of restoring the glory of the university.

“The seeming face-off between the government and the Union can also be solved via dialogue,” he said.

On the state of the university and the low revenue, he charged the university management to plan towards self-sufficiency so as to complement assistance from the government.

The Hallmark of the visit was the presentation of plaque of excellence and the alumni muffler to the permanent secretary.
