AMAC chair condemns Gosa Market protest, urges understanding

 

Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Abdullahi Adamu Candido, has charged residents never to take laws into their hands, even as he condemned the protest carried out by traders of Gosa Market.
The AMAC boss gave the charge while speaking at a media briefing on the recent breakdown of law and order in Gosa Market situated on the airport road where traffic was held up for several hours and many vehicles were destroyed.
He, however, urged aggrieved persons to go about their protest peacefully as civilised people, warning that “any recurrence of violence will be dealt with accordingly.”
Chairman commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Muhammad Musa Bello, for his promise to upgrade all the communities in AMAC and, indeed, the entire Territory, urging the communities not to have fear that their communities is going to be remove from them.
Also speaking, the Chief of Garki, Usman Ngakupi, who is also the paramount ruler of Gosa, while apologising on behalf of his subjects, promised to ensure that “such incident will not happen again.”
He called on residents to always live in peace with one another irrespective of tribe and religion, adding that the minister of FCT should also be commended for his leadership style.
Blueprint reports that the meeting was attended by the coordinator, Satellite Town Development Department (STDD), Tanko Yamawo, as well as all chiefs of the communities on the airport road, including Gosa.
Meanwhile, the AMAC chairman has rejoiced with Christians on the celebration of Easter, urging them to always emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ by living in peace with one another “for the betterment of Nigeria.”
