Amaechi, Obiano’s political romance worries Presidency

The alleged political romance between the Rivers state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, and his counterpart in Anambra state, Chief Willy Obiano, is currently giving the Presidency sleepless nights, Blueprint has exclusively gathered.
To this end, the People Democratic Party (PDP) led government may not reckon with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) adoption of President Goodluck Jonathan as the party’s presidential candidate.

A source told Blueprint that security report had it that some emissaries of the Rivers state governor, led by his brother in-law, Chief Dozie Nwankwo, had been paying frequent visits to the Government House, Awka, holding discussions with governor Obiano of late, which Presidency officials had been closely monitoring.

The source said: “Some hawks within the Presidency, had advised President Goodluck Jonathan to move against Governor Obiano  but that due to his kind heartedness, the President has so far not bowed to such demand because the governor is someone the President assisted to ascend the thrown and has continued to work closely with him since he, Obiano, assumed office early this year.”
Blueprint leant that in spite of goodwill enjoy by Obiano from the President Jonathan, he had continued to fraternize with governor Amaechi, who is persived to be political enemy to the President.

Despite Obiano’s party, APGA, publicly adopted President Jonathan recently, aides within the Presidency were, therefore, said to be wondering if Governor Obiano “does not reckon with the contradiction in his relationship with the President and romance with Amaechi, which is however yet to be of public knowledge.”
