Amotekun corps member arrested for shooting police officer in Oyo

A member of the Oyo State Security Network Agency, Operation Amotekun Corps is now in police net in Oyo township for shooting a police officer in the leg while on duty.

It was learnt that the Amotekun corps member identified as Ibrahim Ogundele, working with Isale Oyo area unit of Amotekun, shot the police officer, Fatai Yekini, a Special Police Constabulary attached to Ojongbodu police station on his left leg at Sanga area in Oyo town on Saturday.

Eye witness account said the police officer was shot at a very close range, during the incident at about 3pm.

Confirming the incident on Sunday, Oyo state police command.

Public Relations Officer, SP Lawrence Fadeyi said the police officer was shot while policemen from Ojongbodu Division were responding to calls to dislodge some youths who were staging carnival in the area.

SP Fadeyi said the concerned Amotekun corps member has since been arrested and currently being investigated at Ojongbodu police station in Oyo township.
