Amotekun operatives arrest 2 suspects for producing, selling fake uniforms, other kits in Ibadan

The Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN), operation Amotekun on Saturday arrested two people including a 63-year-old woman for allegedly sewing and selling fake Amotekun uniforms and other kits.

According to the Oyo state Commandant of Operation Amotekun, Colonel Olayinka Olayanju, (retd) the 63-year-old woman and the other suspect were arrested following a tip off.

 Olayanju stated that the two suspects were arrested along the Akala expressway area of Challenge in Ibadan with some of the fake uniforms, caps, cardigans and other kits already sewed and ready for sale

The Amotekun Commandant stressed that the two suspects have confessed to sewing and selling of fake Amotekun uniforms and kits to some people who are not personnel of the corps.

Col Olayanju said the suspects have confessed of already selling over a dozen of the fake Amotekun uniforms and kits, saying that operatives of the Corps are now trailing those that bought the uniform.

Speaking further, the Amotekun Commandant disclosed that the arrested suspects were earlier taken to the police station for custody but that the police rejected them saying the suspects were asked to go home and report back to Amotekun when needed.
