Analyst faults Keshi on Ike

An Owerri-based football analyst, Cyril Nwokeke, has faulted the statement credited to Super Eagles’ gaffer, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, on the “shutout” of Eagles’ dependable goal scorer, Ike Uche, from the 2014 World Cup Finals.

Keshi had in a recent statement described Uche as a non-team player who would always prefer his own style as against the system adopted for the team. He also said that his attitude almost cost Nigeria the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in South Africa, last year.

Nwokeke, one of the numerous fans of Uche touched by Keshi’s stand, disagreed with Keshi and said that all those things he said about the Villarreal goal poacher were not true. He added that Keshi should summon enough courage and tell Uche’s fans in particular and Nigerians in general the animosity he had for the player who “holds the record of being the living Nigeria’s all time highest goal scorer”.

Commenting further on the allegation of being an indisciplined player, Nwokeke said he should look for Nigeria’s best at the moment and take them to the World Cup and should not dwell on the flimsy excuses.

“This is because most of the great players that have brought honours to their countries are not disciplined, yet they are always listed. Name them: Maradona, Ronaldo, Baloteli, etc. And even he (Keshi) we all know, was not disciplined in his playing days.

With his mafia group, he would kick against the decisions of football authorities and lord his feelings over Clemens Westerhof, yet he was not sacked but was included in all the competitions Eagles were involved in then, even when he had injury in the USA 94 World Cup Finals.
“So if he has any other thing against Uche he should make it open,” Nwokeke challenged Keshi.
