Anambra: 2 drivers threaten bank manager, caught in Police net


Anambra State police command has arrested two drivers of First Bank PLC Awka branch over alleged conspiracy and threat to kidnap their branch manager, Ms Chinwe Ezenwa.

The suspects, Mr Izuchukwu Nebolisa, aged 33 and Mr Simeon Obiakor, aged 35, through anonymous text messages, allegedly threatened to kidnap their boss if she refused to pay them N2,000,000.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Haruna Muhammed, the suspects were nabbed at Jesus Estates Oba in Idemili North LGA, around 8.15pm on June 16, 2019, through the efforts of police detectives attached to the Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

“The suspects were triangulated and subsequently arrested after sustained intelligence with the aid of modern technology. They have equally confessed to the crime and the Sim card used in sending the threatening massages to the Complainant has also been recovered in their possession. Case is under investigation after which suspect would be charged to Court for prosecution.

“Consequently, the Commissioner of Police, CP Mustapha Dandaura implores the public to be wary of their close aids including domestic staff and do a thorough background checks before employment them in order to avert this kind of ugly situation,” he said.
