Anambra community begs Obiano to remember abandoned road in Orumba

Ogbunka Orumba in South LGA of Anambra state, have appealed to governor Willie Obiano to remember their abandoned deplorable road condition.
According to President General of the community, Hon. Emmanuel Okoro, the abandoned road construction in the community had deteriorated since the rainy season commenced making it difficult for them to move about.
Okoro, who made the appeal at the flag off of first ultramodern bus stop built by one of illustrious sons of the community, implored the governor to mobilise contractors handling the abandoned Ufuma-Ogbunka-Nawfija road to site.
“It was started but abandoned and the rainy season saw the road dilapidate more making it difficult for us to access some of our neighbouring communities,” he said.
He, however, eulogised Engr. Richard Nzodilichukwu Okonkwo, who built the bus stop through his foundation, Ishimiri Ogbunka Global Foundation, a nongovernmental organisation, saying”Before now, it used to be difficult to wait for bus, keke napep or okada along this road. It was either one got scorched by the sun or drenched by the rain. We had no single shelter for a very long stretch of the road in Ogbunka. Engr Richard observed this during one of his home-coming and promised that his foundation would intervene. What we are experiencing today is the fulfilment of this promise and more, so we are full of joy and we pray God to continue to keep him for us.”
Speaking after performing the ceremonial cutting of ribbon to mark the official handover of the structure to the community, the chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area, Barrister Raymond Onyeagu noted that the bus stop shelter was the first ultramodern bus stop in Ogbunka community and the first one that was found on entering Ogbunka from the neighbouring community, Umunze.
Onyeagu also praised him for providing new motor bike each to the community’s town crier and their youth leader, a mega phone to a newly converted evangelist and cash gifts to several indigent members of the community.
The youth leader of Agbala village, Mr Clement Nnebe, who got a brand-new motorbike said it would help him to discharge his function which hittetor was difficult to him to perform on foot.
On the same note, the village town crier, Mr Chukwuemelie Okoli who also got a bike thanked Engr Okonkwo for the bike, and promised to double his efforts in informing the community as a town crier
Earlier, while officially presenting the structure and other items to the community, the director of Ishi-mmiri Ogbunka Foundation, Engr. Richard Okonkwo, said he was only fulfilling the pact he made with God early in life; to use whatever means God gave him for the betterment of his community.
Engr Okonkwo, who was represented by his elder brother, Mr Ugonna Francis Okonkwo, stated that philanthropy had always been second nature to him from an early age adding that the activities of the foundation had no political undertone.
