The American Embassy in Nigeria, Tuesday, opened Window on America, a resource centre at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, the Anambra state capital.
Awka Window on America, as it is called, would expose students and youth to diverse opportunities in the academy, economy, entrepreneurship as well as boost the relationship between the US and Nigerians.
Speaking at the occasion, the Public Affairs Officer of American Embassy in Nigeria, Mr Stephen Ibelli, hinted that the partnership would help to engage young people of the community, the university and Nigeria generally.
Ibelli, who said the window has numerous facilities and high technological devices to function, maintained that it would be run by highly disciplined staff, stick to international best practices, and employ online bookings and others to speed-up services to the populace.
According to him, it would focus on providing services to young people, educate, expose and empower them to explore various opportunities needed to thrive individually and collectively.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Charles Esimone, described the Awka Window on America as a worthwhile venture to reach out to outer world, while showcasing their students and staff talents and others.
Esimone, while urging the university community to explore the opportunity due to its overwhelming impact, said it was a stepping stone to accomplish his objectives to uplift the university to become among the 200 best universities in the world.
