Anambra guber: Traditional rulers warn youth against thuggery, violence

Anambra State traditional rulers council, Wednesday, cautioned youth to shun thuggery, violence and other electoral offences as the state November 6 governorship poll draws nearer.

Arising from their monthly meeting held in Awka, the state capital, the council equally adviced politicians and contestants on the election to observe all the electoral guidelines to avoid overhearing the polity or acts capable of harming the populace.

The Chairman of the Council and traditional ruler of Onitsha, HRH Obi Alfred Achebe, represented by the Deputy, HRH Igwe Sunday Okafor of Okpuno Community, urged families to educate their younger ones and youths on the need to shun violence and avoid being used as political thugs.

According to the royal fathers, this was necessary because most of the politicians have their children living abroad, while they use some youths to achieve their aims and abandon them to surfer thereafter.

They, however, adviced eligible voters yet to obtain voters cards to enrol for it in the ongoing online exercise, adding that there is need for all to exercise their franchise in peaceful and orderly manner during the election.
