Anambra Monarch feared dead 7 days after recall from suspension

The Traditional Ruler of Igbariam, Anambra East local government area of Anambra state, HRH Igwe Nkeli Nzekwe, is reportordedly dead.

Nzekwe, who is among the 13 monarchs suspended on August 2020 for travelling to Abuja without obtaining permission from the state government, had his suspension lifted at late hour of December 31st 2020.

He was also the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the splinter Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide General Assembly, which is kicking against the ongoing election by John Nnia Nwodo-led faction.

Blueprint learnt that the monarch who had celebrated his 30th ofala festival on January 4, 2021 joined his ancestors at night of January 7 over undisclosed ailment.

However, confirming the report under the condition of anonymity, a community leader from Igbariam, said other details about Nkelly’s demise would be announced in due course by concerned authority (being the palace Secretary or king makers).
