The Traditional rulers in Anambra state have appreciated Governor Willie Obiano and the Health workers for delivering Health care services to the door step of Anambra residents, and assured them of their unalloyed support.
The Chairman, Anambra State Traditional rulers Council and Obi of Onitsha gave the indication when a team of health workers visited them at the Traditional rulers Council Hall, Government House, Awka.
Igwe Achebe, who said the Traditional rulers will help to champion distribution of the drugs namely mectizan ,Albendazole and praziquantel to the door step of the citizenry using, churches, schools, houses, offices, and motor parks to ensure that nobody is left out, urged the medical officers to continue to intimate them well on how to improve health care of the people.
Responding on behalf of the Health workers, the state Carter Center Programme Officer, Mrs Attamah Isiani appreciated the efforts of the royal fathers in ensuring even distribution of the drugs in their domain and for incentives they give the health workers.
Attamah further explained that neglected Tropical Diseases is a diverse group of communicable diseases such as Buruli ulcer, Rabies, leprosy, Hookworm, African sleeping sickness and filiarissis, among others prevalent in the World poorest countries.
She urged people between the ages of five years to 0ne hundred years except pregnant mothers to feel free to take the drug saying that they are good medication and not fake .
Mrs Attamah, solicited continued support of the traditional rulers to preventing the neglected Tropical Diseases in the state and country in general.
