Anambra: NULGE decries paucity of manpower in LGs

The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Anambra state chapter, has lamented over paucity of staff in the state local government administration, alleging that the system could collapse in 17 year’s time if no new recruitment exercise is conducted to fill the vacancies created by their retiring staff.

The state NULGE chairman, Comrade Chikwelu Adigwe, who made the call at Atani, Ogbaru LGA, implored the state government to urgently embark on recruitment of new workforce to fill the various vacant positions as it would also ease the work of their members.

Adigwe also emphasised on the need for provision of operational vehicles for the heads of LG administration which, according to him, the state government had done to their counterparts at state level, for efficiency and effective service delivery in the LG system.

He extolled Governor Willie Obiano for prompt payment of salaries, and harmonisation of the state and LG workers salaries, even as he appealed to his colleagues to remain focused and work harder.

The union boss, who assumed office last year, had led his members of executives to 21 LG areas to thank their colleagues for voting them to power, noting among other things that his administration would in 2020 organise memorial lecture, NULGE week celebration, move for establishment of relaxation center at the NULGE secretariat Awka and others.
