Anambra NYSC increases postings to schools, hospitals, riverine communities


The National Youth Social Corps (NYSC), Tuesday, said numbers of corps members being posted to secondary schools, primary health centres and riverine communities in Anambra State have significantly improved.
The state Coordinator of NYSC, Mr Kehinde Aremu, disclosed this at closing ceremony of orientation course of 2021 Batch ‘A'( Stream 1) corps members held at the permanent orientation camp in Mbaukwu/Umuawulu, Awka South LGA.


According to Aremu, about 96% of the current batch were posted to Secondary Schools and 4% (Primary Health Centres) across the state, even as over 15% would be serving in those establishment at riverine communities.
He charged them to continue with the good works accomplished by their predecessors at their place of primary assignments and communities, reassuring that they would be well carted for by the state due to their hospitality and charity to all people. 


“We now post to organisations we are sure would take good care of our corps members. There is a level playing ground in Anambra state. They have nothing to fear. We encourage you while serving to feel free to apply and participate on all the state and federal government programmes and policies geared to empower and develop youths. Anambra state government is assuring a level playing ground to all in their programmes irrespective of their stare of origin. 


“I know about 124 serving members that have benefitted from the Smart jobs initiative and other state youth empowerment programmes. I encourage you to allow the spirit of Anambra state to grow in you. It will strengthen you to join in developing yourself, Anambra state and Nigeria. Anambra state spirit is spirit of resilience, charity, character,  strength and prosperity,” he stated. 


He, however, appealed to the security agencies including the Police, NSCDC, traditional rulers, community leaders, heads of organisations, and others to give the corps members maximum support throughout their period of national service.
