Anambra: Obiano Swears In New Chief Judge


Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state, on Wednesday, sworn-in Justice Onochie Manaseh Anyachebelu as the new Chief Judge of the state judiciary. Anyachebelu took over from the state first female Chief Judge, Justice Ijem Onwuamaegbu.
Obiano, while performing the ceremony at the Executive Chambers of the Government House Awka, charged the new Chief Judge to be dutiful and impartial in discharge of his new assignment. 
He also enjoined the chief judge to pay particular attention to court processes for quick dispensation of justice and reduction of number of inmates awaiting trials in the prison.


The governor also reiterated the needs for court reforms with a view to make Anambra courts world-class amongst other numerous responsibilities.
Responding, Justice Anyachebelu pledged not to allow his personal conduct interfere with his official duties.
He said he would uphold the tenets of his new assignment as well as dispense justice in line with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. 


Earlier, the state commissioner for Justice and attorney-general, Barr. Uju Nwogu, commended the governor for fast-tracking the process of justice administration in Anambra state .
