Anambra: Police nab two for allegedly snatching a tricycle


The Anambra state police command has arrested two suspects, Mr Chukwudi Okeke, and Mr Faith Esomchi, accused of snatching a tricycle.

The suspects, aged 20 and 19 allegedly shot and snatched the tricycle from one Nwadoanwe Ndukwe at about 8.2pm at Amaku general hospital gate, Awka, the state capital.

According to the command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Haruna Muhammed, the suspects were arrested by police detectives attached to Central Police Station, Awka, following intelligence report.

“Exhibits recovered from the suspects includes one fabricated double barrel pistol and one toy gun and six live cartridges. The case is under investigation after which suspects would be charged to court for prosecution,” he said.

He also revealed that six out of 8 persons allegedly wounded with substance suspected to be acid by yet to be identified man have been treated and discharged from hospital. Two others are responding treatment, according to the PPRO.

“On July 13, 2019 at about 4:35pm, a young man whose name and address is yet to be ascertained had quarrel with one Onyeka Nwachukwu aged 38 years at Ngbuka old Auto Spare Parts market in ugwuagba, Awada. In the heat of the altercation, the suspect who is presently on the run attacked the following persons with substance suspected to be acid. They are, Mr Onyeka Nwachukwu and

Mr Ofili Benjamin, aged 32.

“Others are Mr Ofili Damian, aged 42; Mr Okoro Ebuka, aged 23; Mr Ekwueme Anayo, aged 35; Mr Nnamani Chukwu, aged 23; Mr Obiora Chidubem, aged 18; and Mr Obasi Solomon, aged 24. Police detectives attached to Awada Division visited the scene and rushed the victims who suffered various degrees of injuries to St. Martin’s hospital, Ugwuagba, Obosi for treatment. The case is under Investigation and effort is ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and bring him to Justice.”
