Anambra police rescue kidnap victim, arrest suspected robber

Anambra state police command, on Friday rescued a kidnap victim, Obinna Davidson, as well as his vehicle, after bursting a secluded flat in Oba, Idemili South LGA of the state.

According to the command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Haruna Mohammed, the rescue was made by operatives attached to Operation Udoka who followed a tip-off from their Imo state counterparts.

He disclosed that while the victim and his vehicle were rescued, the kidnap suspects escaped arrest through the rear fence into the bush.

Mohammed added that two AK47 riffles with ten rounds of live ammunition, one Beretta pistol with ten rounds of .9mm ammunition were also recovered from the kidnapper’s den.

He also revealed that police detectives arrested a robbery suspect, Collins Ike at Limca road Nkpor in Idemili North LGA.

The police spokesman added that the suspect was found from investigations to be a receiver of stolen vehicles, even as two Honda CRV vehicles with REG numbers AL 291 GRA black in colour and PR 226 AAA were recovered from him.
