Anambra residents tasked on good environmental hygiene

The Managing Director, Anambra State Clear Drainage and Forest Reservation Agency, Mr Chido Obidiegwu, on Wednesday, urged Anambra residents to maintain good environmental hygiene.

Obidiegwu, who made the appeal in Awka, while his team was inspecting some residents and shop owners, who are blocking passage of water in major drainages, disclosed that blocking water channels was detrimental to health and road especially during the rainy season.
He urged traders and residents to help the government by cleaning the gutters, adding that the agency might seek enforcement of relevant laws on defaulters.

“Within the next three days, defaulters risk stiff penalty if they fail to keep their gutters and water channels clean. This agency  remains resolute in sustaining the environmental sanity of the state. You should the government to serve you better. Unclean environment causes health challenges, erosion and other environmental hazards,” Obidiegwu added.
