Anambra state govt embarks on evacuation of waste



Anambra state government has promised to evacuate all debris and wastes with a view to creating healthy environment across the state.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA), Mr. Amechi Akorah, who disclosed this in an interview with journalists, said the state government in a joint effort with private sector and other organisations had embarked on waste evacuation exercise in actualisation of goal seventeen of sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of UN.


According to him, the exercise which took place recently at three focal places of Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi, was geared towards keeping Anambra state clean.
He called on Anambra residents to support the move which he described as social action programme capable of making environments greener as well as creating sustainable earth for all inhabitants.


The ASWAMA boss further urged the state residents to avoid indiscriminate dumping of refuse and make use of the provided receptacles at strategic points for adequate refuse disposal.
