Anambra trains 10,000 teachers on ICT

The Anambra state Commissioner for Education, Prof. Kate Omenugha, weekend said to make teachers in the state technological driven, the state trained over 10,000 teachers on Information Communication Technology (ICT).


Prof. Omenugha stated this Tuesday in Enugu when she received a special recognisation award for Technical Revolution in Education Sector in Anambra state by the management of Platform Technologies Ltd, an ICT firm.


The education commissioner also officially commissioned the headquarters of Platform Technologies Ltd and said many teachers in the state now have certification in different software application which was to make them to be ICT compliant.

She said gone were the days when it was the teacher who knows it all. With technology, both teachers and students will be exposed to variety of knowledge through ICT, hence the need to train the trainer.
Omenugha said when she introduced the ICT training for teachers in 2015, people thought she was mad, but she expressed joy that it is paying off now as the teachers are now raising smart children.
She commended the governor of Anambra state, Chief Willie Obiano who she said has made a lot of input in education in the state.


“Technology is the way to go. Obiano has made a lot of input in education in Anambra state. We have trained over 10,000 teachers on ICT. Many teachers today have certification on software,” she said.
