Anambra: Women group protest violence, killings in Nigeria

The women wing of a non-governmental organisation, Igbo for a Progressive Nigeria (IPAN), has protested against violence, wanton killings and maiming of innocent souls in the country.

The protesters, who took to the streets of Amawbia, Awka South LGA, with placards of different inscriptions, sued for peace and unity in Anambra and Nigeria generally.

National woman leader of the group, Mrs Juliet Ezenwosu, who spoke on behalf of the protesters, urged all Nigerians to rise to condemn violence and killings as they were antithetical to development and peaceful coexistence.

Earlier, the IPAN national president, Mr. Lawrence Onuzulike, entreated people of South-east to embrace, arguing that the region was never known for killings and violence.

He also charged political leaders to find solution to the insecurity in the country.
