Anambra: Youths endorse community’s caretaker committee, sue for peace

Youths of Nando, Anambra East LGA have unanimously endorsed the caretaker committee of the community led by Sir Anthony-Mary Amali, urging various factions to team up with them to move the community forward.

Newly elected President General, Nando Youth organisation, Chief Donatus Ajanma, made the call in his acceptance speech after been declared winner of the youth election held on Monday. Ajanma and his executive would lead youths of Nando in the next three years.

The community had been in the news in recent time leading the state government to reportedly dissolve the executive of Nando Development Union (NDU) led by Chief Ignatius Aghadinuno and constituted a caretaker committee led by Amali.

Ajanma said his administration stood for peace, unity and progress of the community. “Our mandate is to move Nando forward. We are determined to ensure that Nando is peaceful. We will support the caretaker committee and the state government to engender development in our community.

“I will attract government to help our youths with skills on agriculture and other fields. This is a call for more works. I cannot do it alone. Everyone must join hand with me to get things fixed,” he stated.

The Chairman, Nando Caretaker committee, Sir Anthony-Mary Amali, charged the new Sheriff of the Youth to organise and mobilise the youngsters to key into projects capable of developing themselves individually and the community at large.  

Pharmacist Obinna Emenaka, an indigene of the community and member representing Anambra East state constituency at Anambra state House of Assembly, charged the youths to collaborate with the town’s leadership with a view to access various opportunities from the government.

According to Emenaka, governor Willie Obiano is youth friendly whose administration had empowered and still empowering youths in the all sectors of the economy including political appointments.

Earlier, the Chairman, Nando Youth Electoral Caretaker Committee, Chief Ifeanyi Nwadigwe, while commending youths for conducting themselves peacefully throughout the election, expressed hope that community would experience robust development as the new leadership comprises youths from all walks of lives.
