ANEEJ trains CSOs, journalists to track, expose illegal properties

The Africa Network for Environment and Economic Justice (ANEEJ) recently in Abuja trained Civil Society Organisations and journalists on the usability of the Propati Tracka Platform to track and expose illegal properties.
The meeting was aimed at walking participants through, on how to create an account with the platform, map and send reports of property suspected to have being acquired through proceeds of crime belonging to Politically Exposed Persons/Civil servants.
It’s Executive Director of ANEEJ, Rev. David Ugolor, at the workshop themed: “Tackling Corruption Through Transparency in Property Ownership”, said the website will unmask owners of illegal assets in Asokoro, Maitama, and Wuse Districts.
He explained that reviewed existing policies and laws guiding property acquisition and identified gaps that made it possible for PEPs/ Civil Servants to loot the treasury and acquired choice property with the proceeds of crime and the recommendations made to close these gaps.
He outlined the key government agencies that ANEEJ will partner with in the course of implementing this project.
