In commemoration of the 2019 International Anti-Corruption day, ActionAid Nigeria (AAN) has expressed concern over corrupt leaders in the country, saying that those who are looting the economy and found guilty should be fined death sentence.
The event themed “United Against Corruption. My Constituency, My Project.”
The Country Director, Ene Obi, at the anti-corruption rally Monday in Abuja said those who are found guilty and charged for corruption should be brought to book.
She lamented that many of those who have looted the economy were moving freely in their houses, parliaments and others.
She called on the federal government to stand against corruption, “We know President Mohammudu Buhari has made a pronouncement to fight corruption but we are saying that he should fight corruption from his own internal processes.”
Also, the Project Manager of SCRAP-C Anti-Corruption Project in ActionAid Nigeria, Otsemaye Newton, said Nigerians are tired of living without water, hospitals, good roads and transparent government.
“We are here to join our voices with other members in the world to end corruption in our nation, churches, families, schools, parliament and executive.
“We are collaborating with the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission ( ICPC), National Orientation Agency (NOA) and others so that we can have a collective engagement to end corruption,” he said.
Also, the Director Public Enlightenment, ICPC, Rashidat Aduni Okoduwa called on communities to report abandoned projects in the constituency to ICPC and also report corruption cases.
