The remains of Mr. Philip Tatari Shekwo, the Nasarawa state All Progressive Congress ( APC) Chairman has been buried on Friday in his home town, Yelwa, Toto local government area of Nasarawa state.
Mr. Philip Shekwo was reportedly abducted from his residence in Lafia, the state capital around 11pm on Saturday November 21, 2020, and was later found dead the following day near his house.
Shekwo, was however, buried at around 2: 20p.m on Friday November 27, 2020, at his private residence in accordance with Christian rites.
Governor Abdullahi Sule was represented by his Deputy, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, then Speaker of the Nasarawa state House of Assembly, Hon Ibrahim Abdullahi, Senantor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura representing Nasarawa South Senatorial district, Senator Godiya Akwashiki representing Nasarawa North were among other dignitaries that paid their last respect to the late APC chairman.
Governor Abdullahi Sule who skope through his depity while during the funeral service at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Yelwa assured of the state government commitment in making sure the perpetrators of the slain APC chairman were fished out to serve as deterrent to others.
He also assured the family of the deceased APC chairman of prayers and support.
“Philip is a gentle man to the core. His death is not only a lost to Yelwa community, Toto Local Government, the state alone but Nigeria as a whole because he was a detribalised Nigerian.
Also speaking, Senator Al-Makura described the late APC chairman as a man of peace, a man of submission progress and development.
“Shekwo is a friend, brother and someone that I have cherished,” he said.
Almakura urged the state government to conduct a vigorous investigation to fish out the perpetrators of the act
In his sermon, Dr. Bulus Ali, the President of Nasarawa/Benue Baptist Conference said death was an inevitable end of all human and living beings.
“There is no end to death as there is life after death and there is going to be judgement after death,” he said.
He urged the state government to do more in the area of security in order to protect lives and property.
The clergy prayed for the repose of the soul of Shekwo.
Shekwo died at the age of 63, and left behind to mourn him his wife, Mrs. Larai Shekwo, children, among other relatives.
