APC chieftain demands expulsion of former SGF Lawal

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa state, Dr Umar Duhu, has called for immediate expulsion of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir David Lawal over comment on Governor Umar Jibrilla Bindow.
Duhu also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to mandate APC officials in Adamawa state to suspend the former SGF over what he described as anti-party activities.
According to Duhu, the former SGF “has shown flagrant disrespect to the state governor” for saying he would only support Buhari in 2019, adding that such assertion was tantamount to causing disaffection in the party.
Speaking with journalists in Abuja yesterday, Duhu said that what Babachir was doing amount to causing disaffection in the Adamawa State chapter of the APC.
“Every member of the party must follow the norms of the party.
If you want to contest for an election, go and test your popularity,” Duhu said, reaffirming his support for governor Bindow’s second term bid.
Duhu, who said Lawal took over from him as the North East National Vice Chairman, frown at the statement credited to the former SGF that he will lonly support Buhari in 2019.
“I want to use this medium to call on President Muhammadu Buhari to forthwith, direct the officials in Adamawa to suspend or expel Babachir from the party,” Duhu said adding that Babachir’s statements which is against Bindow is un becoming.
“It is tantamount to taking the name of the party to disrepute.
So, he must as a matter of urgency be expel from the party for saying he will only work for President Muhammadu Buhari and work against his state governor.” “Look, there is no basis for comparison between Bindow and Babachir.
Babachir as former SGF, he was the SGF of Nigeria and not Adamawa state.
What indices had he to show that he endeared development to Adamawa State? Why should Babachir come out to say that governor Bindow has appointed only Muslims as advisers? All the local government that Babachir talk about, they have Christians as commissioners.
All the interest groups in Adamawa were covered by the Bindow’s appointment,” Duhu said, adding that governor Bindow is good and should be voted for a second term
