APC chieftain urges Tinubu to pick Sani-Bello as running mate

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party in Niger state, Nma Kolo, has called on the party’s s presidential candidate, Ahmed Bola Tinubu to nomination Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of the state as his running mate.

Kolo, who is also the Political Adviser to the Governor, stated this Thursday in an interview with Blueprint in Minna.

He argued that it has become imperative for the party to micro-zone the Vice Presidential ticket to the North-central and specially to Niger state.

According to him, “I want to advise APC and its presidential candidate,  Ahmed Bola Tinubu  that the Vice Presidential ticket should be micro-zoned to Niger state with Governor Abubakar Sani Bello as the vice presidential candidate.”

Kolo explained that the choice of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello is based on  the critical roles he  has been playing as a “stabilising force” during the party’s dire moments.

He said as the Chairman of the North Central States Governors’ Forum, Governor Sani Bello is also a member of the defunct APC’s caretaker committee which paved the way for the party’s national convention, where a new leadership was put in place.

He said Sani Bello also served as acting national chairman of the caretaker committee, when the substantive chairman and governor of Yobe state, Mai Mala Buni went on medical vacation earlier in the year.

He said,  “having successfully represented the party in key assignments as chairman of various committees and navigated it through trouble times as acting caretaker committee chairman, Bello is equipped enough to serve as the country’s vice president in the next dispensation.”
