APC congresses: Bindow, Nyako crises deepen

The political wrangling between Governor Bindow Jibrilla and former Governor Murtala Nyako has taken a new twist as both camps are to take control of the party structures ahead of the forthcoming congresses of the party in the state.
The two camps held parallel rallies where they both endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari for second term but severely opposed the candidature of Governor Jibrila and Nyako.
The Nyako camp lambasted Gov Bindow and the outgoing state exco of the party in the state describing them traitors and vowed to flush them out in the forthcoming congresses of the party ahead and 2019 general elections.
However, at a parallel stakeholders’ meeting at Government House organised by the Governor’s camp, the Chief of Staff to Governor Bindow, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abba Jimeta, said that no administration has performed in the history of Adamawa politics like the administration of Bindow and called on the people to rally round the governor.
Further, he explained that Bindow has constructed 340 roads in the state in the last 3 years across 18 out of 20 local government areas of the state with the exception of Michika and Madagali, which he attributed to insurgency.
Also, he said each member of the state House of Assembly was given N1.5bn for constituency projects, noting the various projects they executed with the funds were for the benefit of the people at the grassroots.
However, in a dramatic twist, the former SGF, Babachir David Lawal, flanked by Sen.Mohammed Abubakar Mualloyidi (Adamawa south) APC gubernatorial aspirant Engr.Markus Gundiri and other APC stakeholders, dismissed the governor’s claims as misrepresentation of facts.
He cautioned the electorate to be wary of false claims and urged them to get set to reject those not performing to expectation.
