APC Convention: 600 former Reps endorse Nwogu as National Organizing Secretary

Ahead of the Saturdays national convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), no fewer than 600 former members of the House of Representatives caucus of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have endorsed their colleague Hon. Chidi Nwogu for the position of the National organising Secretary of the party.

Spokesperson of the group, Hon. Nze Chidi Duru, told newsmen Teusday at a press conference for the formal declaration by Nwogu to contest for the seat. He said that the caucus which would participate in the exercise have resolved to throw their weight behind Nwogu.

Another member of the group, Hon. Ibrahim Zailani who spoke in the same vein disclosed that members of the caucus have resolved to get across the delegates from across the country to achieve the objective.
He said: “We have no fear whatsoever because if the party decides to go for the unity list, we are home and dry. If the party decides to go for election, our candidate remains the man to beat. On Sunday morning I am sure we would be celebrating his victory. Nwogu is a man of integrity capable to help create a new brand of APC that will take the country to the next level of greatness.”

Nigeria’s former Ambassador to North Korea and a member of the caucus, Mr Alex Nwofe who made reference to Nwogu’s antecedents as a politician and business expressed optimism that delegates at the Convention would back Nwogu’s inclusion in the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

While making his ambition public, Nwogu said if elected he will bring to the table his records of “impeccable character, integrity, team-spirit, humanity, effectiveness and commitment with a view to repositioning our party to sustain its lead as the number one political party in the country.

“I have been in the House of Representatives; I am an employer of labour – managing men and materials; I am a Quantity Surveyor by training and a responsible family man. My background places me on a solid pedestal to discharge the constitional responsibilities of the office of National Organising Secretary of a ruling party.”

The organising secretary aspirant, who promised to build a bridge between the the executive and legislature, also said: “I offer myself as an instrument of unification and realization of the cardinal objectives of our party.

“I shall bring to the table my record of impeccable character, integrity, team-spirit. humility. effectiveness and commitment with a view to repositioning our party to sustain its lead as the number one political party in the country.

“I will fashion strategies for the mobilization of members from the Polling Unit Ward, LGA, State and national levels for increased participation in party activities with a View to deepening democracy at all levels in the polity.

“Create opportunities and structures that will ensure all-inclusiveness across board within the party. This will give members a sense of belonging and a reason to remain committed to party interests.

“Develop grievances redress mechanisms to assuage the feelings of those who may feel marginalized, neglected, sidelined or short-changed in the management of the affairs of the party,” he promised.
