The Peoples Democratic Party, Imo state chapter, has described last weekend’s national congress of the All Progressives Congress as a charade.
Speaking with our correspondent in Owerri, the State Publicity Secretary, Hon Damian Opara, said it was a show of shame as delegates and hoodlums from Imo state sponsored by Governor Rochas Okorocha attacked other delegates before the President, Vice President, Senate President and other notable Nigerians.
He further said that the party was aware that the governor spent billions of naira which should have been used to pay workers’ and pensioners’ salaries to ensure that Senator Osita Izunaso did notreturn as national organising secretary, just to pave the way for hisman, Hon Emma Ibediaro.
While asking the Okorocha to return the money which he squandered, Opara made it clear that “the position which he looted Imo’s treasury to secure is one of the less important positions in a party, not even the top seven positions,” adding that the position of publicity secretary was higher in hierarchy than that of organising secretary.
