APC crisis in Osun worsens

The internal crisis that engulfed the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has continued with different local governments storming the party secretariat in Osogbo the state capital everyday for protest.

Blueprint had penultimate week reported that the aggrieved members of the party who apparently not satisfied with the ward congress held at Irewole local government stormed the party secretariat for protest.

It was later gathered that many of the protesters were arrested and remanded in Ilesa prison after they were arraigned last week Friday.

A source within the party said that their bail was secured on Tuesday and they were released from the prison.

Though, the publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, denied the alleged death of any member during the crisis. He also said that the party has settled the crisis amicably.

According to the source, one of the accused was calling the attention of the state prosecutor to the phone call by the deputy speaker of the house of assembly, Hon. Adegboye Akintunde, at the court premises.

The prosecutor was said to have told the deputy speaker that he has no power to stop their arraignment on that day.

Again, on Wednesday, members of the party from Obokun local government began their protest in the morning, shouting “thief, “thief, thief” on the chairman of the party, Prince Gboyega Famoodun.

The protesters who carried placard of various inscriptions such as: “Fear God, Give Us Our Mandate, “Think of future Election, No To Imposition, among others, threatened that ‘imposition’ would affect the party in the future election if not properly addressed.

Speaking with our correspondent during the protest at the party secretariat on Wednesday, the chairman, Obokun ward 1, Prince Adepoju Adejoorin, alleged that the party Chairman, Prince Famoodun and his executive have been imposing candidate on the party.

He explained that the party had conducted primary thrice in Obokun, yet they did not announce the winner.

He stated that Jide Agbaje had won in all the three methods used, alleging that a PDP woman, who was the wife of former counsellor was later imposed on them to be counsellor.

The women leader, Mrs Lawal Taiwo, who started that she has be in progressives in the last eighteen years, insisted that she would not allow PDP to be imposed on her.

She called on the party Chairman, Famoodun, Secretary, Salinsile, and Governor Rauf Aregbesola, to I return before the issue get out of hands.
