APC gets new chair in Nasarawa

Nasarawa state governor Abdullahi Sule Thursday, named Mr. John Mamman as the new chairman of the caretaker committee of All Progressives Congress (APC), Nasarawa state chapter.

The appointment was made shortly after an emergency party stakeholders’ meeting, presided by the governor at government house in Lafia.

Mamman is to serve for six months to fill the gap created by the death of the former chairman, Mr. Philip Shekwo, who was kidnapped and murdered a few meters away from his residence in Lafia.

The governor said the appointment of a new caretaker chairman was the decision of the party’s stakeholders which had in attendance the two former governors Abdullahi Adamu, and Senator Umaru Almakura.

It was made clear that the caretaker chairman must be from the same senatorial zone and religion as the deceased chairman.

Mamman, before his appointment was the Special Adviser to the governor on local government, chieftaincy affairs and community.
