APC gov aspirant blames politicians for drugs, thuggery

A governorship aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi state, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Mera, has blamed politicians for youths’ involvement in drugs and thuggery.
Addressing a press conference shortly after he received a mammoth crowd of supporters who were at his resident in Argungu to endorse him, Mera blamed the menace of drug addiction among the youths on the nonchalant attitude of some politicians, who only engage their services during campaigns.
“It is disheartening to note that our front line politicians abandon the youths whenever elections are over and give pittance for them to buy drugs.
Hardly do they provide them jobs so as to be useful to themselves and the society,” he said.
The governorship contender described the scenario as very sad and inhuman, noting that none of the politicians would allow his child to involve in thuggery and therefore called on all politicians to have the fear of God and stop engaging the youths in the acts.
Mera assured that if given the chance, he would run a government that carries the youths along, saying: “We will provide them with job security as well as involve them in the running of the activities of government by initiating programmes that have direct bearings on their lives.
Similarly, he declared that he would run an open door policy, where everybody in the state would be heard while delivering the dividends of democracy to the people will be the utmost priority of his administration.
He expressed optimism that APC would sweep the 2019 general elections, saying President Muhammadu Buhari administration has made tremendous achievements
