Former Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in the 2011 election in Abia state, Ochiagha Reagan Ufomba, has berated the All Progressives Congress-led federal government for being unfair to the South east region in appointments and distribution of federal projects.
The former APGA chieftain, said at his Umuogele Ntigha, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government country home shortly after he defected to the PDP that the APC federal government has marginalised and victimised Igbos in all spheres of its administration.
He, therefore, dismissed claims of some APC members that the party would sweep the polls in the South east come 2019, adding that the so-called defection of top politicians from the region into the APC would not make much meaning because the APC remains unrecognised in the region.
He noted that the APC does not stand any chance in Igboland because of the clear neglect of the region in the present APC-led federal government, stressing it was not fair to the Igbo race in a country where the likes of late Zik of Africa, an illustrious Igbo son, helped to build.
Ufomba maintained that the APC will not make any inroad not only in Abia but in the entire South east come 2019 general elections because of the marginalization and neglect of Igbo race by Buhari-led government.
Ufomba, who was officially received back to the PDP in a colourful ceremony held at Ginger Sam Amalaha mini stadium, Amapu Ntigha, described himself as one of the foundation members of the PDP who left in 2010 but has returned to rebuild and rebrand the house.
During the ceremony, he explained that he has rejoined PDP with 17 local government chairmen and their Excos, and 184 wards of Abia state, adding that he has rejoined with affiliate groups of over 250.
The former Special Adviser to previous governments in the state further said that he has emptied his entire APGA structure into PDP noting apart from his structure there was no other structure in the entire council for APGA.
He called on Abians to lend their total support to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s second term bid stressing that he has what it takes to pilot Abia to greater exploits.
Meanwhile, Governor Ikpeazu said he was excited to have the big fish rejoining the party while tasking the party leadership to accept his returnee brother and his formidable structure whole heartedly.
He challenged those interested in unseating him in 2019 to put posters of what they have done to the state to enable Abians compare and contrast.
On his part, the Executive Chairman of Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Chief Ginger Onwusigbe, extolled his Ntigha Ngwa heavy weight politician for coming back to PDP fold.
He noted that with big fish like Reagan joining them it means their LGA will be intact for PDP in 2019.
The Council boss hinted that the stakeholders of the LGA met and resolved to endorse their son Governor Ikpeazu for second term warning that nobody should deny Ngwa nation opportunity of completing 8 years of two terms.
Also, the state chairman of PDP, Sir Johnson Onuigbo, said the PDP had always been the defector’s home adding that he only went on transfer and was back to his house.
He commended him for deeming fit to return to the house he helped build while assuring him and his followers wholehearted acceptances back to the fold.
